Calibration, verification and validation are processes with three different meanings that are interrelated. Their interpretation and application vary from industry to industry.
Essentially, these three terms are defined as follows:
1. Calibration is the use of an existing standard to ensure the measurement accuracy of the instrument.
2. Verification is to measure whether a certain equipment or process is in normal operation according to its established operating procedure.
3. Validation is about making sure that the stated functional intent of the system is satisfactory.
