What Is Electromagnetic Flow Meter?

- Jun 04, 2020-

Electromagnetic flow meter, also called mag meters or magnetic meter, is a volumetric flow meter which does not have any moving parts and is ideal for wastewater applications or any dirty liquid which is conductive or water based. It is a kind of flow meters that needs less maintenance or replacement of flow meter.

Electromagnetic flow meters will generally not work with hydrocarbons, distilled water and many non-aqueous solutions. Magnetic flow meters are also ideal for applications where low pressure drop and low maintenance are required.

Accuracy over a wide flow range can be as good as ± 0.5% of flow rate or better. It features an obstruction-free design which eliminates flow impediment, and operates with electrodes embedded on opposite sides of the flow tube or sensor to pick up the signal.

Electromagnetic flow meter is widely used and performed extremely well in many municipal and processing applications, and has become the meter of choice for measuring conductive liquids such as water or slurry. It is also one of the main instruments in the field of environmental protection. For example, electromagnetic flow meter has particular use in water and wastewater treatment facilities.
